Mechanical Drop Sets for Summer Bod

Summer is just around the corner and that means it's time to get serious about lifting and eating right.

I can help on both fronts, but this article will focus on a simple and time efficient way to put on the muscle you've dreamed of.

Put the work in NOW and be prepared to show off this summer at the pool, at the beach, or out on the town.

Mechanical drop sets are the great way to get going in the right direction.

A mechanical drop set is a way to hit the same muscles with progressively easier lifts, the lift starts challenging and technically should get easier but since your muscles are tired and you've got a sick pump already, the easier lifts actually feel harder.

They're horrible because the should TECHNICALLY be easier as you go, but you're actually putting in some serious work (muscle tension breaks muscle and these sets have tons of tension!!).

Below are three examples of a drop set. These are just a few examples, but you can do these for virtually any body part -- biceps, triceps, legs, glutes, hamstrings, abs.

The key to setting up a good mechanical drop set is to lessen the effect of gravity on the muscles, thus making the weight "easier" after your first set. The second set should suck. The third set should be a total failure.

I usually do two to three sets on these and usually go down in weight by third set. Give a couple minutes rest in between sets.
